The NBA Finals tips off tonight and it seems like it’s been longer since an NBA game was played than a post on Big Rips. Both are unacceptable. But when the sun comes out and you’ve been cooped up in a 700 square foot apartment with shit weather since last Labor Day, plus the Man has you working, things slip. Fortunately since I’ve taken some time away from Bigrips.wordpress.com (which the thieves at Hugedomains.com are still charging $12,500 for) I haven’t been contributing to My Bookie’s college fund for his kid. But at the same time, I haven’t won any money either and the thrill you get from winning a bet has been absent.
I’m looking to cash in this NBA finals and make up for getting smoked in the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. I bet with my heart and you can’t do that, even when the worst collection of people (not talent) in sports history play on one team. I was talking with a friend and we both agreed that Dwayne Wade was an ok guy prior to Lebron and Bosh coming to town. We compared the situation to being in High School and your mom not wanting you to hang out with two popular friends who have bad reputations. You end up becoming friends with them and get caught holding their bong and maybe get in a scuffle or two that you didn’t start. Even if you don’t change as person you inherit a shitty reputation. That’s Dwayne Wade. Likeable pre-Big Three and now just a huge douche.
I’m sick of watching this Heat team steam roll past the Sixers, Celtics and Bulls, while losing money along way. Most of my bets have been out of spite and now I have to admit the Heat are the best team in this tournament. The Defense is sick. I didn’t realize that. The bench has been serviceable. Joel Anthony, Udonis Haslem, James Jones and Mario Chalmers are contributing just enough. And the Big Three are nasty. I’ve never seen so many wide open fast break drunks since the 1992 Dream Team. I’m betting smart this series, taking the following
Bet the Miami Heat -190 – with major regret – to win the NBA championship, no Caron Butler means no one can slow Lebron and Dwayne Wade +400 to win the MVP – I have Lebron at EVEN – smart play has to be on D. Wade.
Good luck,
-SD
