Trying to blog about golf after the Masters, is like Robert Downey Jr trying to care about life after the high of hanging out with Mickey Rourke at the Playboy mansion, banging playmates and pumping their veins full of smack. I practically had the rubber band around my left arm with a needle nearby all weekend (no playmates though). What a Major Championship, I loved every second of it, nothing will match it for a long time. Some highlights for me were Big Phil, hitting a 6 iron bewtween the trees from about 220 yards, landing it in pin high; hugging his hot wife (who has breast cancer) after winning, touching moment; anytime the crowd erupted for Freddie Couples when Lee Westwood was in his backswing; and having Tiger back, it raises the the competition level, great for the sport.
This week the tour stops in Hilton Head, SC, for the Verizon Heritage, it is difficult to get up for any event, until maybe The Players championship at TPC Sawgrass. Who cares about the Heritage, unless you can win some money, hopefully I’ll help my readers do just that. So far this year my track record has been stellar. I’ve bet 7 events and won 4 of them, my mother always told me, someday I’d be good at something, who’d have guessed that something would be betting on golf. There should be plenty of low scores this weekend in SC, Brian Gay fired -20 last year, all four rounds in the 60s, unbelievable. I am going with these guys
Matt Kuchar +2500, Ranked 7th on FedEx standings. Has three top 3 finishes this year, I’ve taken him the last two weeks and don’t want to miss out when he finally wins a tournament this year.
Brian Gay +2500, need to put some small money on the defending champ, Gay also finished at -21 at the Bob Hope Classic this year
D.J.Trahan +3000, Trahan ranks 3rd in Birdie Average, he makes about 4.23 per round. Trahan is a birdie hawk who should be in the hunt at the Heritage
Boo Weekly +5000, Plus 5 Gs? Please help me understand this. He won this event in back to back years 2007 and 2008.
Vaughn Taylor +4000, Vaughn missed the cut last weekend, but I liked him coming off his 2nd place finish at the Houston Open.
