Duceman’s Ryder Cup

I love the Ryder Cup. The Cup on our home soil in ’99(Brookline) was one of the best American Sports moments that I can remember.

Fast forward to Wales in 2010. The Europeans never lose on their home turf and they certainly aren’t about to start when the US is throwing out dudes like Jeff Overton. I love Rickie Fowler but the dude isn’t ready and can’t be expected to compete with guys like Graeme Mcdowell and Rory Mcilroy. The Euro’s are absolutely stacked this year. I consider the current line of Europe -160 and absolute gift. I’m hitting the Europeans hard here. It’s not personal, It’s strictly business. You can never let emotion get in the way of handicapping.

I love technology.  Delta has WiFi on pretty much all of their flights so I can pump out a Monday Night Football/rant blog.  Delta also has planes that have faulty landing gear as the folks on Delta flight 4951 find out last night.  I type this as I’m flying down to the Shit-lanta for a few days of Chick-Fil-A and work before I head up to Montreal for a fellow Big Rips reader’s bachelor party, the O/U of how many people get arrested + die is 1.5.

First, I am fresh off a huge weekend of golf.  I picked Jm Furyk to win The TOUR championship which he took home on Sunday along with the FedExCup a nice $11.3 million pay day.  No one has won that much cash on a Sunday since Base, when he would bet on the Daunte Culpepper/Randy Moss Vikings team.  Also, over the weekend was the Duceman Invitational Golf Tournament. The feeling players have when in contention in the final round of the Masters is the same as what I felt yesterday during the Duceman Invitational.  What a great weekend of golf.

Tonight, I have Roy ‘Doc’ Halladay going for win number 21.  If you didn’t already know Base and I along with a few others bet that a MLB pitcher would win more than 20.5 games this season. I talked to My Guy about this and he is definitely well aware of the situation, so much that he is tracking the weather patterns for the Phillies – Nationals game tonight.  It’s come down to the wire as we have 3 guys (Halladay, CC Sabathia and Adam Wainwright) with 20 wins and 1 start left.  Strike that 2 guys Wainwright might not make his final start, we’re fucked.  Anyone want to buy my bet?

Monday Night Football is in Chicago, as Jay Cutler and his bangs take on their division rival Green Bay Packers.  I have a lot of action tonight, I’ve got 2 fantasy football leagues with Aaron Rodgers and need big numbers from him to secure wins and beat my Lawyer on a side bet.  So I might as well go nuts and take the favorite on the road team that the public will be all over, a bookies wet dream.

Green Bay Packers (-3) @ Chicago Bears, I watched the Bears – Cowboys game 2 Sundays ago and the Bears couldn’t protect Cutler at all.  He was constantly getting knocked on his ass thus prompting him to scream like the cunt he his offensive linemen.  I foresee a lot more of this tonight.  The front 7 for the Packers are filthy, best against the run last year and they have Clay Matthews (who has to be on a combination of HGH and Steroids) check out his head in tonights game, the dude shops at the same hat store as the 1999 National League All Star team. He’s a freak.  I like the Packers D a lot plus I’m be pulling for Rodgers to have a monster night and anticipate Culter coming back down to earth and chucking up at least 3 INTs. Go Pack Go.

The question I have is if my Delta flight takes a turn for the worst on the landing (plus we’re flying through thunderstorms) who owns my MLB O/U 20.5 wins prop bet?  I can’t wait to brace for impact.

Good luck tonight

Ah, finally the last leg of the FedEx Cup playoff.  The field is mow trimmed down to just 30 players with the points resetting. The 30 person field with no cut is a mad rush for the $10 million prize as pretty much everyone has a shot, some more likely than others.  Basically if you go out and win at East Lake you’ll be in the money and the FedEx payouts are generous.  There are couple side stories there are grabbing attention too.

First, Paul Casey (who is the 7th ranked golfer in the world) was left off the Ryder Cup team by Europe’s douche bag coach Colin Montgomerie (is douchbag 1 or 2 words?).  Casey says that winning the TOUR Championship will not make up for being excluded from the team, so he’s very motivated.  Next, Phil Mickelson is in position to to pull off an incredible feat.  If Lefty wins on Sunday he will win the TOUR Championship, FedExCup, player of the year honors AND the World #1 Ranking. Oh by the way Lefty is the defending champion at East Lake.  The field is just 30 players and it is the best golfers on the tour in 2010, so it’s tough to make a decision on who to bet this week.  To make it even more difficult 4 players are past winners at East Lake GC.  Phil 2X (’00 &’09), Camilo Villegas (’08), Retief Goosen (’04), Adam Scott (’06).  So I am gonna roll with these guys.

Phil +500, with all that he has at stake I want to be screaming in celebration at my TV on Sunday when he’s high fiving the gallery after a monster putt on 17 to take the lead.  No one gets the fans more stoked up than Phil.

Zach Johnson +1800, He has two 2nd place finishes at East Lake and he has the best combination of putting 11th and driving 9th in this field.

Jim Furyk +1800,Who knows what would have happened if Furyk had not over slept at the Barclay’s.  Anyway he still made it to Georgia and with 4 top 10s in 7 career starts here, Furyk still has hope to win it all.

Justin Rose +2500, The Ryder Cup Captain finished 11th at Cog Hill after missing the cut at the Deutsche Bank.  Rose placed  11th last year

Nick Watney +3000, Has a great game, blew up on Sunday at the PGA Championship with an 82.  He’s 11th in fairways, 5th in distance, 12th in Greens  and 10th in putting.  He is considered to be the most consistent golfer on the Tour.  He finished 13th last year at East Lake GC

Good luck,

Most people who don’t live in Ann Arbor Michigan or Amherst Massachusetts didn’t know that Michigan is playing the 1998 National Champions ( 1-AA champs) until Barstool Sports El Prez blogged about it this week.  Unfortunately my guy and all of the gambling universe doesn’t offer a line for 1-AA footballs games.  I’d really like put some action on this game, thinking the line has to be like Michigan -48 after Denard Robinson just hung about 500 yards on Notre Dame.  If anyone (including my guy) wants to take my action email me Bigrips1@gmail.com or let me know in the comments section.

P.S. I got some die hard UMass friends who took an RV out to Michigan this weekend, led by 281.  They’re brining the Amherst spirit to the ‘New’ Big House, hopefully they can bring back a win.

Go Umass

Late update on this, but Giambino is rolling.  Jason Giambi pinch hitting in the 9th, hit his 2nd walk off home run of the season last night to help Colorado win their 10th consecutive game.

415th of his career 43rd All time and 347 behind *Barry Bonds*

Love the first two or three weeks of NFL betting, best time of the year to win on 3 team teasers 4 team parlays. Week is four is when you should start to call or text your 5 best friends to see who they like then bet the opposite, it’s a proven fact.

My bets for now…

The Pats (- 5.5) vs Bengals – line has gone from 6.5 down to 4.5 not it’s back to 5.5 on my guys site.  I always agree with Duceman’s point that it is business, I’d even bet against my mother to win money, but I am gonna put a small play on the Pats this week.  Bengals are supposedly sick and the Patriots defense is young and thin, but the last time I checked we have the coach and QB with three Super Bowl rings and they’ve got two actresses who have a show on the E! Channel together. Pats -5, buying the 1/2

Packers (-3) at Eagles – Kevin Kolb is a nice QB to fall back on when your starter for the last decade leaves for Division rival, but the Eagles offense will have little time on the field today.  The Packers are legit and have the best run D in the league.  This line would 7 – 9 if they played later this year.  Packers by 2 TDs

Ryan Moore (-120) vs Charlie Wi – Golf on NFL Sunday, why not.  Wi has never won on the tour and it won’t happen today.  Watched the 2nd round yesterday and his Stack and Tilt swing just isn’t what it’s suppose to be. Ryan Moore has a great game and a one shot lead, watch for Wi to fall back a few strokes and Moore to win at Cog Hill.

Good luck today

I blogged yesterday about my long term baseball prop bet and had a slight dig on Giambino for not homering since May.  Well I was wrong, his last long ball was June 23rd versus the Red Sox.  He made up for it today and belted his 5th home run of the season and his 414th career home run tying him for 43rd on the all time list with Darrell Evans and 348 HRs behind *Barry Bonds*

Savor it, could be one Giambino’s last trots around the bases.
