Lots of good things happening this weekend with The Tour. It’s finally back on the main land. CBS has coverage so were not subjected to the Golf Channel and endless promos for the Hank Haney Project with Rush Limbaugh. And Tiger is back…
Of course he is. The last time we saw Tiger at Torrey he was paired with Rocco Mediate in probably one of the greatest sports events of my lifetime. It was the 2008 US Open when it took him 91 holes, on a busted knee, draining back-breaking putts and chips to win his last Major. Last week Martin Kaymer trumped Tiger for 2nd place in the World Golf Rankings when he won in Abu Dhabi, Tiger needs to get back on top. He’s the heavy favorite at +250 because of his six career victories at Torrey and seems like a smart bet. Instead I am gonna roll with these guys…
Rickie Fowler +1250 – The Sophomore is probably one of the most exciting players on the Tour. Not great odds, but I like that he shot an -11 under 5th place last year and he’ll have the Southern Cal home field should advantage.
Nick Watney +2000 – Last time I bet Watney he was a close 6th at the BMW Championship in ’10 and I had money on him at the PGA Championship when he had a lead on Sunday, but hacked it up for an 81 on the final day. He also won at Torrey in’09.
Charles Howell III +2250 – He hasn’t won since 2007 at Riviera. Has 4 top ten finishes at Torrey, not great odds for a long shot, good record in So Cal courses
Hunter Mahan +3000 – My first of many Mahan’s bets this year. He wins at least 3x in 2011, don’t want to miss out.
Brandt Snedecker +4000 – He finished 2nd place last year and 3rd in 2007. My long shot.
