I took a much needed rest after The Masters from golf bets. Year to date I’ve won two events, Doral (Nick Watney) and Shell Houston Open (Phil). I’m glad I took last week off as Tour Rookie, Brendan Steele, took home the Valero Texas Open trophy…he would not have been on my radar. The randomness continues which is begging me to start betting the field. This week the tour stops in Hilton Head at the Harbour Town Golf Links, a Peter Dye course which requires precision and good ball striking. The Field is +135 and I’m reluctantly staying away again. After shutting down the engine and recharging my batteries I’m looking to go on an LA’esque run. Gonna roll with these guys…
Matt Kuchar +1200 – He has the perfect game to win this week, straight off the tee, 24th in driving accuracy, ranked 16th in Greens in Regulation, 3rd in scoring average and 6 top tens.
Bo Van Pelt +3000 – Van Pelt had a nice run at Augusta, he finished 8th. Van Pelt is very good off the tee and is ranked 4th in total driving on the Tour. He also is 9th on the Tour for total Eagles. Bo finished 3rd last year at the Heritage.
Ernie Els +3000 – Adding Ernie here, just read an article that he has 7 top 10 finishes at Harbour Town and always plays the course well. Don’t love his game right now, but has a real good history at the Heritage.
Charles Howell III +3500 – He didn’t qualify for the Masters, but is still having a solid year. CH3 has 2 top tens and has a decent history at the Heritage, he’s finished in the top 25 in 3 of 5 starts here.
Ricky Barnes +4000 – I was big on Barnes at the Masters and he had an admirable effort, he finished 20th. Barnes has never won on the Tour, but most analysts expect him to soon. His strength is his iron play which translates well on the Peter Dye course. I’m a bit concerned because he has been injured this year and is coming off back to back events. Ricky finished 5th last year. Also, his girlfriend is one half of ‘team gorgeous’, a professional beach volleyball team, is also my choice for the blog post picture, enjoy.
