The 2nd FedEx Cup event stops in my backyard at the TPC-Boston (Norton MA) for the Deutsche. The best 54 hole golfer, Dustin Johnson, took home the win last week at the Barclays. For the record I didn’t blog last week, but bet on a couple of losers. The Barclays was a joke of an event, because it was shortened by that slut Irene. I love DJ, but we all know if they played Sunday he would have choked.
The Deutsche is a great weekend for New Englanders because there are only 2 stops up here all season, The Hartford Open and Deutsche. Plus, this event is always played on Labor Day weekend with a Friday to Monday schedule. Most people who attend just get bombed because it’s a holiday weekend. This was Tiger’s event because of its affiliation with TW Foundation and Buick was the main sponsor. TIger also liked being tied to it because it was only a 20 min jaunt from Norton to the Foxy Lady. The TPC Boston is an original Arnold Palmer design and was later refined by Gil Hanse and Brad Faxon, the defending champion is Charley Hoffman. I’m gonna roll with these guys…
Jason Day +1500 – I can’t guarantee a J Day win, but I can guarantee his wife gets groped and drooled on several times by the drunken gallery this weekend. She’ll have to equip herself with pepper spray and a poncho to keep the Nabnasset Lake Country Club attendees from treating her like a Hooters Waitress. Day is poised to win this year and with the exception of Kuchar, he is one of the remaining young guns to not have won in 2011. Strong finish last week at the Barclays (13th) came in 2nd last year to Hoffman.
Vijay Singh +2500 – Winless in almost 4 years, but is flying under the radar with a 4th and 3rd place the last two weeks. Veej is also a two-time winner here. On a personal note one year I went to the Deutsche and followed his group around for about 6 holes. He lived him to his rep of being a huge prick. He didn’t acknowledge the crowd, would complain if the gallery was shuffling around too much and would glare back at people after a bad shot, like he was looking to place blame on the gallery. Huge douche, but I like him to win this weekend.
Brandt Snedeker +3500 – He had a blistering 61 last Saturday to finish 3rd at the Barclays and has a good track record at this event.
Gary Woodland +4500 – There have been 13 first time winners on the TOUR in 2011 and he was one of them. I like Woodland at these odds because of his length. Traditionally the TPC Boston favors long hitters, past winners who were long off the tee are Vijay Singh, Charley Hoffman, Tiger and Phil. Woodland is 5th on the Tour in driving distance and has finished in the top 15-4 times in his last 8 events.
Bubba Watson +4500 – My Hunter Mahan of 2011, I’ve been betting Bubba a lot this year and I’m confident he can win this wide open courses with length of the tee. He’s had a tough 2nd half of the year, but is still 1st in Greens in Reg (72%) and 1st in driving distance 314 yards per. His bad results have helped drive up his odds which is good because he is still very capable of winning any week.
Good luck and one of you might need to bail me out of I get arrested for hair sniffing Ellie Day’s crotch.
